CODA International (CODA) Today:

CODA was founded in 1983 and is an organization that celebrates the unique heritage and multicultural identities of adult individuals who have deaf parents. The organization's vision is to connect Codas from all around the world.

CODA achieves its mission through various means, such as conferences, retreats, publications, scholarships, resource development, and fundraising. The ultimate goal is to enrich the experiences of Codas and promote their well-being.

In 2022 the CODA membership decided to take a new step into future: To ´evolve into two organisations: CODA USA and a new CODA International entity.

This is a remarkable moment in the history of CODA , as we witness the evolution into two organisations: CODA USA and a new CODA International entity.

The Team Global
Our focus
is simple but profound: to ensure that the new CODA entity truly reflects the global tapestry of being a Coda, dissolving barriers, empowering and uniting our worldwide family. This Ad-hoc international committee was brought to life by the CODA membership. The mission is a new International entity inspired by the 2020 Restructure Motion. This is a remarkable moment in the history of CODA , as we witness the evolution into two organisations: CODA USA and a new CODA International entity.

The committee meets online at 03:00 PM Universal Standard Time on the first Sunday of the month. In 2024. The next meeting date is:

Work Plan
Our roadmap comprises five distinct phases aimed to shape the vision for the new CODA International. These phases include:

  1. Phase 1 (Purpose): Defining the purpose of the new CODA International Structure. Is it social connection, capacity building, empowering the youth, or an amalgamation of these ideals? To better understand this, Team Global will engage with associated Coda country organisations, individuals, and stakeholders while also drawing inspiration from the UN Sustainability Goals as a guide to operations (and funding).

  2. Phase 2 (Wants/Needs): Creating a survey from Phase 1 insights. This survey will invite input from all Codas to pinpoint strengths and gaps in the present structure and allow them to articulate their desires for the new CODA International entity.

  3. Phase 3 (Options): Focusing survey insights to explore potential structural options that best align with your aspirations.

  4. Phase 4 (Communicate): Present Team Global's plan at the 2024 CODALeague conference, along with extending an invitation for your input for further refinement.

  5. Phase 5 (Execute): Beyond June 2024, hopefully, the new CODA International takes flight, refining and adapting as needed to ensure it truly serves our global community.
