CODA Korea Project

Children of Deaf Adults International, (CODA) supports the development of coda-related organizations around the world. These efforts are local endeavors undertaken by individuals in their communities. This page highlights content that may be useful to these local efforts.

In 2023, CODA and CODA Korea was awarded a USD $45,000 grant from the US Embassy in Seoul, South Korea (S-KS700-23-GR-0007) to implement a Peer-to-Peer Capacity Building and Youth Development Training. There were 5 training objectives for the grant:

1. Enhancing the organizational effectiveness of both CODA and CODA Korea through peer-to-peer exchange and training on administrative activities.

2. Expanding the participation of Korean Codas in the conference to promote public awareness and long-term growth of CODA Korea.

3. Developing training materials for administrative functions, conference management, scholarship management, and youth summer camp programming.

4. Providing administrative support through accounting enhancements and website development to facilitate access to training materials.

5. Strengthening the capacity of CODA Korea to support Deaf parents, young Codas, and Coda adults in understanding and appreciating their unique identities, fostering positive family dynamics, and achieving recognition as contributing members of society.

CODA Korea will conduct a film screening and public discussion at the US Embassy in late 2023 to facilitate public awareness of Codas and Deaf-parented families. Materials developed for the grant can be found below.
